Cycles

The course methodology applies to a broad range of organizations and can be tailored to teams of varying sizes and complexities, from small, single-location teams to Fortune 50 multinational corporations. Although the primary focus is on businesses with up to 10,000 employees, the course emphasizes segmenting organizational processes into manageable units as complexity increases. It explores how these cycles affect growth strategy, commercial performance, employee behavior, and organizational culture.

Managing Value

Building on the established foundation, participants review the proposed 12-level valuation framework in business terms. They assess six key issues that reduce valuation and six business assets that increase it beyond the benchmark average multiple, as defined by the formula Valuation = Profit x Multiple. From a buyer’s perspective, participants learn to identify factors beyond legal and financial records, both direct and indirect, to determine if risks are managed and business assets have tangible value.

Exit & Transition Options

This program reviews succession and exit options. It provides methods for identifying the most suitable path. Participants are guided through four main categories: internal, external, closure, and family transfer. Each category includes specific forms and possible hybrid solutions. Pros and cons of each transition should be assessed and aligned with established valuation objectives. Transition planning—including leadership and ownership changes—is a key business strategy. It can increase business value.

Exit & Transition Vision

This program helps participants develop a comprehensive transition vision by integrating the first three modules and clarifying the rationale for the next phase of ownership. Participants assess the vision’s inspirational value, ambition, credibility, and its impact on commercial operations, organizational culture, and purpose. They also evaluate how well the vision motivates leadership and owners, and how it fosters their sense of connection.

Financial Capacity

Most companies pursue growth, often connecting revenue goals to expected impacts on shareholders, the community, the industry, and employees. This module helps participants develop a strategic plan to achieve their organizational vision and explores the implications of growth. It considers whether growth may cause stress, require rapid progress, or demand sustained effort. Participants will also examine the link between budgeting and capacity management, and identify common mistakes made by management teams that do not fully understand the growth process and its effects.

Capacity Plan

This framework starts with a top-down capacity strategy and develops a bottom-up plan, identifying issues as they arise. It then addresses required resources, timing, dependencies, conflicts, constraints, and alternatives to ensure capacity is both built and utilized. Plans are broken down by business function to assess overall impact, highlighting potential budget risks and solutions. The bottom-up plans specify the resources needed to achieve objectives over one or more years.
